Harold C. Fritz, Jr., age 81, of Greenwood Township, died on Sunday, September 23, 2012 a patient at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He had been ill for several years.
Harold was born on Friday, March 6, 1931 in Benton, a son of the late Harold C. and Roberta (Davis) Fritz, Sr. He was a member of the 1950 graduating class of the Benton High School. Following his education, he served with the United States Navy in Berlin, Germany during the Korean Conflict. Throughout his earlier working career, he was employed by U.S. Radium in Bloomsburg as an offset printer. Most recently, he was employed by Geisinger Medical Center in the printing department before retiring in 1990. Harold served on the funeral contingent with the Millville American Legion Post #564, and was a former Scout Leader with the Benton Boy Scouts Troup #51.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Ann Fritz in 1974 and also by a sister, Nancy Fausey in 1992.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Grace J. "Judy" (Getz) Fritz, two sons: Harold C. "Chet" Fritz and wife, Deborah, of Cochranville; and William B. Fritz of Franklin, TN; a grandson: Ryan William Fritz of Cochranville; a granddaughter: Carly McManus of Spokane, WA; two sisters: Carol Ann Hiscox of Florida and Susan Fausey and husband, Larry, of Benton; and also a brother: Allen Laubach of Millville.
Funeral Services will begin on Wednesday, September 26 at 4 p.m. at the Rohrsburg Christian Church, 636 Rohrsburg Road, Orangeville, with Rev. Michael Woolcock, officiating. A combined VFW/American Legion Group will provide Military Honors. Memorial contributions in Harold's name are suggested to the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701.
