Gregory H. Cooper, age 54, of Washingtonville, died Tuesday, September 22, 2015 in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Greg had been ill since January. He was a resident of his Anthony Township home for 26 years.
Greg was born on Sunday, November 6, 1960 in Danville. He was the only child of the late Robert and June (Hock) Cooper.
Greg graduated from Columbia Montour Vocational Technical School in 1979. He was employed for 33 years by the former Magee Carpet Co., currently Autoneum, as a machine mechanic.
From 1982 to 1997, Gregory Cooper served as Assistant Fire Chief of Washingtonville Volunteer Fire Co. He was also Past Secretary of Montour County Emergency Management Association.
On October 24, 1981, Greg married the former Cathy (Blewett) Cooper who survives. Also surviving is his son: Austin Cooper. Greg regarded his numerous brothers and sisters-in-law in the Blewett family as his siblings.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held Friday from 6 to 8 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg. Funeral services with fire company honors will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 10 am from the funeral home with Rev. Mary Schmotzer, Montour County Fire Company Chaplain, officiating.
