Glovene E. Youngkin, age 94, of Berwick, died on Saturday, December 1, 2018, a resident of the Berwick Retirement Village in Berwick. Glovene was a resident of her home in Berwick her entire life.
Glovene was born on Monday, December 3, 1923 in Berwick, a daughter of the late George and Dora (Rohrbach) Grasley. Throughout her younger years, Glovene attended the Berwick area schools, and later graduated from the Berwick High School, in1941. On, September 8, 1943 Glovene married her loving husband, William B. Youngkin of Berwick, who preceded her in death on March 11, 1984. For over 28 years, Glovene was employed by Consolidated Cigar Plant until her retirement in 1986.
Glovene was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church, Berwick. She was also a member of the Martha Sunday School Class, 25 Year Club of the Cigar Plant, and Senior Circle of the Berwick Hospital. Glovene enjoyed spending her time maintaining her home and yard, shopping, and cherished time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Glovene was also preceded by siblings: Kenneth Grasley, Glen Grasley, Doyle Grasley, and Christine Smith. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Fenton and husband, Rev. John Fenton, of Berwick; granddaughter, Julie Shearer and husband, Eric, of Northumberland, great grandchildren: George F. Shearer, William F. Shearer and Laura F. Shearer.
Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family with her pastor, Rev. Stephen Portner, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Youngkin and Fenton families.
