Gloria Leona (Lesnefsky) Baylor, age 87, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021, under hospice care at Kathy and Domenico's home where she had lived since 2014. She had been in failing health over this past year.

She was born on Thursday, March 15, 1934 in Shumantown, a daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Zapach) Lesnefsky. Gloria graduated from the former Beaver High School. On August 27, 1955, Gloria married her loving husband, Allen Daniel Baylor, who preceded her in death on October 6, 2013. Gloria was a dairy farmer's wife who milked 20 plus cows twice a day up to three times a day while raising three children. After mom and dad sold most of the dairy herd in 1974, mom then worked for my Uncle John Adler in his machine shop, where she drove the "Blue Goose" truck to Kawneer many times. She was a member of the Mainville Emanuel Lutheran Church and a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.

Mom would always be willing to go for drives with Kathy and Domenic to Woolrich, Routes 220/87/120 and 6 were some of the favorites. Okome mountain in Pine Creek Valley, Kinzua bridge was visited many times, spring visits to Hershey Gardens, fall drives to Keuka, Seneca, and Cayuga lakes, September trips to High Knob overlook and visiting Hoagland run, accompanying Kathy on her CME ventures, Providence, Rhode Island, Boston, MA and multiple trips to Burlington, Vermont to name a few. In June 2018, Mom went with Kathy and Domenic to Chicago, IL on their way to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan and visited where Dad was stationed, Fort Sheridan in Illinois. On June 23, 2018 she stood in the front of Highland Park hospital 60 years to the day where she delivered her daughter, Karen. That was a very special day. Mom also was my beach buddy to Rehoboth Beach, last being the summer of 2019 when she was 85 years old and attended performances of the Radio City Rockettes Christmas show every year till it became too much walking for her. Mom loved the Statler Brothers, and especially Jimmy Fortune and his song, "Elizabeth." We always attended the Fair when the Statlers were performing, watched the Statler show when it was on, and a couple years ago, Mom got to meet Jimmy Fortune and have her picture taken with him. It was one of the highlights of her life. Mom loved going to Crosscutters games, solving New York Times crossword puzzles, but in later years, found enjoyment in doing Search a Word puzzles. She was a fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gloria was also preceded in death by a son, Dennis Wyatt Baylor, two sisters, Margaret Hartranft, Frances Schell, and three brothers, Stanley Lesnefsky, Paul Lesnefsky, Albert Lesnefsky.

Survivors include her beloved daughters, Kathy Eileen Baylor Giorgio, M.D. and husband Domenic, of Bloomsburg, Karen Denise Baylor of Kulpmont, a grandson, Matthew Allen Baylor and wife Rachel of Bloomsburg, a great grandson, Jack W. Baylor, and a sister, Arlene Tessie Lesnefsky of Bloomsburg.

At the request of Mom, there will no be funeral service, but family and friends of Mom ( and others!) are welcome to attend the regular church service at 10:15 at Mainville Emanuel Lutheran Church this Sunday, 6 June 2021, where special funeral prayers for Mom will be said by Pastor Christine.

Kathy, as a daughter first and a physician second, would like to extend special thanks to all the caregivers who took care of her during her many hospitalizations these last 3 months. The Trauma and Neuro units at Geisinger, the nurses and staff at Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, Bloomsburg Care and Rehab Center.... what they do is so important in taking care of our loved ones, Dr. Keith Boell, who was so gracious and for whom I will always remember after having that difficult decision to place Mom on hospice on Mother's Day, Dr. Fellin who discharged Mom on May 11 to hospice care, to the hospice team of Jackie who of took care of Mom's personal needs, (the nurses and aids make taking care of a person while bedridden look so easy ! ) the hospice nurses Julie and Amanda, the social worker, Heather, Dr. Sheehe and Dr. Joseph.

A special thanks to my husband, Domenic, my Auntie Arlene who lives with us as well, and my family for their unwavering support during this difficult time, my former patients who understood my decision for retiring early to take care of my Mom, coworkers who supported me especially Candy, my former CMA and Christy, Deb, my former office manager, my fellow physicians, Becky, Pastor Christine, and Bonnie my cousin and an RN, who on Mom's last day gave me advice and support.
