Gloria D. (Dent) Haley, age 78, formerly of Danville, died on Sunday evening, April 13, 2014 a resident of Nottingham Village Nursing Center in Northumberland since 2012. Gloria was a resident throughout most of her adult life in Newton, New Jersey.
Gloria was born on Monday, November 11, 1935 in Danville, a daughter of the late Clayton and Hazel (Applegate) Dent. Throughout her younger years, Gloria attended and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1953. During her earlier years, she was employed as a clerk for the Dean of Women at the Seton Hall School of Nursing in South Orange, New Jersey. In November of 1961, Gloria married her loving husband John F. Haley, Jr. of Catawissa. Gloria dedicated much of her adult life to working in their family home. She was of the Lutheran faith.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 33 years, John F. Haley, Jr., on May 25, 1995, and also by a half-brother: Arthur Dent.
Survivors include three siblings: Norma Dent of Catawissa; Franklin Dent and wife, Dawn, also of Catawissa; and Shirley Kimsal and husband, Robert, of Bloomsburg; and many nephews and nieces.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday morning, April 21 from 10 to 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Monday morning, April 21 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with Rev. Dr. Joel L. Zeiders, of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Catawissa. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Haley and Dent families.
Memorial contributions in Gloria's honor are suggested to an animal care charity of the donor's choice.
