Glen D. Roeder, age 84, of Montour Boulevard, Bloomsburg, died on Friday, September 28, 2012 at his residence where he resided since 1975. Glen was also a former resident of the Buckhorn area for many years.
Glen was born on Monday, February 6, 1928 in Catawissa, a son of the late Ross and Martha (Whitenight) Roeder. Throughout his earlier years, he attended the Catawissa Area Schools. Before retiring at the age of 69 in 1996, Glenn was employed for 27 years by Bloomsburg Mills Inc., and most recently by the former Reichart Lumber & Supplies in Lightstreet for 22 years. He was also employed earlier in life by Streater's Greenhouse in Bloomsburg. When free time allowed outside of work, Glen enjoyed spending his time gardening and planting flowers around his home, and was always known for having a "green thumb".
In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by a daughter: Rose Galutia, following an accident in August in Bloomsburg; a grandson: Brandon Roeder in December of 2009; as well as three brothers: Eugene, John and Carl Roeder.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Carol F. (Kelchner) Roeder; two sons: Sheldon Roeder and wife, Stacy, of Shamokin and John Roeder of Bloomsburg; a daughter: Diane Miller and husband, Larry, of Stillwater; four grandsons, and a sister: Ruthie Hendricks of Catawissa.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 2 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street with Rev. Thomas J. Fetterolf, officiating. Friend and family will be received at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in Bloomsburg on Tuesday, October 2 from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
