Gladys Ruth Rhodes, age 83, of Numidia, died on Sunday, September 12, 2010 a resident of Emmanuel Nursing Center in Danville. Gladys was a resident of her home in Numidia for over 50 years. She had been failing in health since February.
Gladys was born on Wednesday, May 4, 1927 in Mifflinville, a daughter of the late William and Annamary Martz Comstock. She was a Graduate from the former Mifflinville High School. She was most recently employed by Textron in Danville. She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Numidia. Gladys enjoyed spending her time going to yard sales throughout the valley and also spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late Paul A. Rhodes in July of 1980; two sisters: Betty Bores and Dorothy Bodnar; and four brothers: James Comstock, William Comstock, Jr., Harrison Comstock and Robert Comstock.
Survivors include her two daughters: Pamela Wasko and her husband, Charles, of Bloomsburg, and Dianne Rhodes of Catawissa; a son: Thomas Rhodes and his wife, Yvonne, of Catawissa; four grandchildren: Tara Silvetti, Dee Six, Taylor Rhodes and Marisa Rhodes; three great-grandchildren: Stone Silvetti, Mason Silvetti and Allison Six; a sister: Laura Gassert of Danville; and three brothers: Ralph Comstock of Bloomsburg, John Comstock of Nescopeck and Willard Comstock of Berwick.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 15 from 10 to 11 a.m. from the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 83 Esther Furnace Road in Catawissa.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Anna Fyock officiating. Graveside services will be held in Esther Furnace Cemetery adjacent to the Church.
