Gerald J. “Jerry” Splitt Jr., of Elysburg, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. He was born in Shamokin on May 21, 1965, a son to Gerald J. and Barbara (A’Zary) Splitt Sr.
Jerry was a graduate of Danville Area High School, Class of 1983, where he was a letterman in both track and field and cross country. He went on to obtain his RN from Geisinger School of Nursing before obtaining his BSN at Bloomsburg University. Jerry had been employed at Geisinger from the age of 18. He served as an EMT, paramedic, ICU nurse, chief flight nurse, and for the past 26 years, the Program Director of Life Flight. During his tenure, he grew the program from one helicopter operating at a single site to nine helicopters, operating at six bases. Jerry was a member of LCBC Church in Bloomsburg. Outside of work, he had a passion for farming, operating his own farm with 36 head of cattle. He also enjoyed running, completing numerous races, including the Run for the Diamonds and even a full marathon. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. Jerry’s greatest joys, however, were his beloved family and friends and the time spent with them.
Surviving Jerry, in addition to his parents, is his wife, Shannon A. (Chapman) Splitt, whom he wed on September 19, 2009. Also surviving are children: Nicholas Splitt of Hummelstown, Matthew Splitt and wife, Morgan, of Bloomsburg, Molly Johnson and husband, Galen, of Osage Beach, MO, and Abby Cullen and husband, Brady, of Tijeras, NM; grandchildren: Stanley and Stevie Johnson and Logan Cullen; siblings: Patricia Zimmerman and husband, Jim, of Mifflinburg, David Splitt of Elysburg, and Lisa Casselberry and husband, Wally, of Muncy; aunt, Mary A’Zary of Elysburg; and nieces and nephews: Christopher Yeager, Emily, and Morgan Casselberry.
All are welcome to join Jerry’s family for a visitation from 11 AM to 2PM on Monday, June 15, 2026 at LCBC Columbia-Montour, 2421 Columbia Blvd, Bloomsburg, PA 17815, followed by a celebration of life at 2 PM with Pastor Brad Travelpiece officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. of Bloomsburg, is honored to serve the Splitt family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jerry’s memory to a local EMS agency of their choosing.
