Gerald E. Mordan, age 87, of Chaumont, NY, died on Monday, August 15, 2022, at Jefferson County Hospice. Gerald, formerly of Danville, was a resident of his home in Chaumont, NY for over 18 years.
He was born on Tuesday, August 6, 1935, in Danville a son of the late Earl and Hazel (Snyder) Mordan. Gerald attended the Danville schools and graduated from Danville High School in 1953. Following high school, Gerald faithfully served with the US Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Gerald was a member of the Mahoning Lodge 224 F&AM and the Danville Elks. On September 8, 1962, Gerald married his loving wife, Joyce A. Moomey, of Danville. He expanded his education by attending Bloomsburg State College, graduating in 1973. For over 22 years, Gerald was employed by the Danville School District as a Teacher until his retirement in 1993.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was also preceded in death by siblings: Earl Mordan, Ray Mordan, and Dolly Holdren. Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Joyce A. Mordan, of Chaumont, NY; daughter, Betty Allen and husband, David, of Muncy, PA; son, Barry Mordan and wife, Kathleen, of Danville, PA; granddaughters, Jessica Gray and husband, Bryce of Elysburg, PA; and Holly Amarante of Philadelphia, PA. Survivors also include a sister, Joan Brady, and brother, James Mordan, and wife, Connie, both of Danville, PA.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Jeremy Irwin, pastor of Crossroads Church, Muncy, PA, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow at the Fairview Cemetery, Montgomery, PA. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Mordan family.
