Gerald T. "Jerry" Glaser, age 73, of Bloomsburg, became a joyful citizen of heaven on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, surrounded by his wife of nearly 51 years and his 2 daughters.
He was born Wednesday, August 15, 1951, in Greeley, NE, a son of the late Bernard Joseph Sr. and Joan Jane (McCarthy) Glaser. Jerry faithfully served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1978. On October 26, 1974, Jerry married his loving wife Nancy L. (Vann) Glaser. For over 33 years, Jerry was employed by PP&L, beginning as an I&C Tech and retiring as a nuclear engineer in 2011. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Bloomsburg, for 47 years where he joyfully served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the BCS school board, and a member of the deacon board amongst many other behind the scenes duties he regularly engaged in. Jerry loved his church family and serving beside them. He was a basketball coach at BCS for over 28 years and considered it a privilege to invest in the life of each player. Jerry was an excellent golfer and enjoyed competing with friends and family on the course. He was a proud Cornhusker and loved sharing game days in Lincoln during his annual father/daughters Nebraska football game. Jerry loved spending quality time with family near and far.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by a sister, Gina Dunning, and a brother, Jude Glaser.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Nancy L. Glaser, two daughters, Amberly V. Smith and husband Tommy, PA, Whitney S. Glaser, CA, eight siblings; Bernard J. Glaser, Jr. and wife Marsha, NE, Carlene Bourn and husband Larry, NE, Joanell Rivera and husband Arthur, AZ, Edward Glaser and wife Marilyn, NE, Joseph Glaser and wife Lee, NE, Jan Glaser and wife Pam, NE, Marlene Sorensen, NE, Maurene Obermeyer and husband Mark, NE, and sister-in-law, Linda G. Vann, SC, and many nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eight Street, Bloomsburg. Friends and Family will also be received on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Calvary Baptist Church, 3300 Ridge Road, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 11:00am at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Timothy G. Smith and Pastor Sean Stouffer, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow at Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. Military honors will be provided by the Columbia County Honor Guard. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Glaser family.
