George M. Daily, age 95, recently of Bloomsburg, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 a resident since July of 2014 of the Emmanuel Center for Nursing in Danville. Prior to moving to Bloomsburg where he was lovingly cared for by his niece Kathleen Johnson and husband, Thomas, George was a life-long resident of Chester, Pennsylvania.
George was born on Wednesday, November 19, 1919, in Chester, Pennsylvania, a son of the late John and Helen (Gallagher) Daily. Throughout his younger years, George attended the Chester area schools until his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. George served his country faithfully in the Philippines during World War II with the United States Marine Corps and was later decorated with the Philippine Theater Medal. After returning home from his time of dedicated service to his country, George was employed for many years by the Whit Co Chemical Company. A lifelong golfer, George loved nothing more than spending the day on the golf course honing the skills of his game. George was also a very enthusiastic fan of the Notre Dame Football team.
In addition to his parents, George was also preceded in death by his late wife, Jane (Sakers) Daily. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family preceded by his five brothers: Joseph, John, Eugene, Francis and Charles
George is survived by many nieces and nephews of those he will forever be in the hearts of Pat, Fran, Michael, Kathy and Terry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday morning, March 21 at 10 a.m. from the St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron and Third Streets in Bloomsburg with Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence, as celebrant. Graveside committal services with full Military Honors will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Daily family.
