Obituary

George William Campbell, Jr., age 91, of S. Market Street, Bloomsburg, died on Friday, December 30, 2011, a resident of Bloomsburg Health Care for the past four years. He was a long-time resident of Columbia County.
George was born on Monday, September 6, 1920 in Elysburg, a son of the late George and Emma (Bell) Campbell. He graduated from the Numidia High School. Following his education, he served in the United States Marine Corp. during World War II. For over 30 years, he was employed as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania until his retirement in 1986. During his retirement, he was employed by the Allen Funeral Home of Bloomsburg and the Bloomsburg Fair Association. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomsburg and also a member of the Caldwell Consistory in Bloomsburg, the Bloomsburg VFW Post #804, the Catawissa VFW Post #8306, and the National Rifle Association. He loved spending his retired life in the outdoors hunting and fishing. George pursued his interests with great pride and dedication, and was a caring, loving, and excellent provider for his family.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Kathleen (Wolchanski) Campbell in August of 2005 and three brothers, Jack, Darwin, and Eugene Campbell.
Survivors include three daughters: E. Dianne Campbell of Miami, FL; Patricia Ann Emanuel and husband, David, of Bloomsburg; and Lisa Kay Mattise and husband, James, of Charlottesville, VA; a son: George Randall Campbell and wife, Sheryl, of Ocean View, DE, six grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; a sister: Betty Jean Burrows of Lewisburg; and a brother: Gerald M. Campbell of Lewisburg.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth St. in Bloomsburg. Masonic Services will be held on Friday evening at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, at 10 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Jay E. Jones of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating. Graveside services will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Elysburg. There will be a combined VFW/American Legion group providing Military Honors.
