Obituary

George S. Beaver, Sr., age 91, of Numidia, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born on Sunday, June 8, 1930 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Stanley Ellis and Nettie Mae (Teple) Beaver. George graduated from the former Locust Township High School in 1948. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1951. On September 17, 1994, George married his loving wife, the former Mary Louise Kreisher, who preceded him in death on February 9, 2018. For over 27 years, George was employed as a truck driver for Follmer Trucking, Hummels Wharf. He subsequently operated an FAA Part 135 Air Charter business.

George was a member of the Numidia Valley Bible Fellowship Church, he was also a member of the Penn Lehigh Unit, Wally Byam Caravan Club International (WBCCI) and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He and Mary Louise enjoyed traveling to the international rallies and hosted many regional rallies at the Numidia Airport also spending the winter in Rio Honda, Texas with their Airstream.

George was a Certified Instrument Flight Instructor and loved flying. He shared his love by teaching others to fly. He flew out of the Numidia Airport, Berwick Airport, Joe Zerbe Airport and Northumberland County Airport. He spent many hours towing banners, and glider planes out of the Berwick Airport. He had a great interest in preserving history, especially concerning the Numidia Airport, part of the US Postal Service Transcontinental Air Mail Service. Such a wonderful man with a truly magical presence. He touched all our lives bringing joy and happiness wherever he went. Let him be remembered in all of us by the lessons he taught us and the examples he showed us. As we move forward with our own lives let us make him proud to have known us.

In addition to his parents and wife, George was also preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Beaver and a sister, Beverly Catchpole.

Survivors include his seven beloved children; Michael P. Beaver and wife Judy of Mohnton, Mary Rose wife of Jim Luby of Catawissa, Frances E. wife of Neil Moser of Elizabethtown, James Beaver of Catawissa, George S. Beaver, Jr. of Mountain Top, Anne wife of Tracy Clark of Catawissa, Elizabeth Beaver of Northumberland, six grandchildren: Aaron Moser, Rachel MacNamara, Ashley Shaffer, Amber Fisk, Lindsey Herman, Katrina Beaver, eight great-grandchildren, two brothers, Donald Beaver and wife Iris of Montoursville, Perry Beaver and wife Joanne of Vienna, OH, as well as many nieces, nephews and counsins.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers from Maria Joseph Manor Continuing Care Community and Geisinger Medical Center for their compassionate care of him for the past several years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11:00 am at The Numidia Valley Bible Fellowship, 42 Ringtown Mountain Road, Catawissa, with a meal to follow. Graveside committal services will be in Numidia Bible Fellowship Cemetery with military honors provided by the combined V.F.W. and American Legion Honor Guard. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Beaver family.
