Obituary

Genevieve E. Yacko, age 72, of Spring Garden Avenue, Berwick, went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 06, 2011 a patient at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Prior to living in Berwick, Genevieve also resided on Numidia Drive in Catawissa.
Genevieve was born on Thursday, March 17, 1938 in Tunkhannock, a daughter of the late Byron and Theta Meade Dickson. She was a member of the 1956 Graduating Class of the Benton High School. Genevieve was the former owner and manager of the Slabtown Mini-Market in Slabtown. Most recently, she was employed by Weis Markets as a Clerk until retiring in 2007.
Genevieve was a member of the West End Fire Co. Auxiliary, Berwick. Her enjoyments included crocheting, doing cross word puzzles, decorating her seasonal tree and visiting with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Yacko, on December 24, 2006; a sister: Darlene Bartlebaugh and a great-grandson: Jayden Karaffa.
Survivors include two daughters: Louise Grove and her husband, Joseph; and Heather Yacko both of Catawissa; two sons: Alan Sutton and his wife, Kathy; and Jeffrey Sutton and his wife, Bonnie, both of Catawissa; eight grandchildren: Tracy Bellum, Tanya Karaffa, Kayla Grove, Trichelle Grove, Nicole Cotterman, Malisa Sutton, Cameron Macklem and Seth Macklem; nine great-grandchildren; a sister: Carol Koss and her husband, Ron, of Pittsburgh; and two brothers: Sterling Dickson and his wife, Claudia, of Mississippi; and Donald Dickson and his wife, Kate, of Dallas.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, February 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 9 at 10 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon E. Smith, of St. John Lutheran Church in Espy, officiating. Graveside Services will be held in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
