Gene E. Boyles, Sr., age 74, of 26 Boyles Drive, Bloomsburg, died Saturday, August 7, 2010 in the Millville Health Center where he had resided one week. Mr. Boyles was a resident of his Mt. Pleasant Twp. home for 31 years.
Gene was born on Sunday, November 24, 1935 in Forksville a son of the late Leon and Hazel Tuttle Boyles. He attended the Williamsport area schools. For 35 years he was employed by Hanson Aggregates and retired in 1998 as Supervisor of a limestone quarry.
Mr. Boyles attended the Greenwood Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years: Marlyn Confair Boyles to whom he was married on May 29, 1964. Also surviving are three daughters: Kimberly Maryott and husband, Louis of Wysox, PA, Stacy Trovitch and husband, Alan, of Bloomsburg and Shannon Boyles of Bloomsburg; four sons: Gene E. Boyles, Jr. of Harrisburg, Jerry Boyles and wife, Margaret, of Numidia, Kelly Boyles of Johnstown and Kevin Boyles of Danville; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lois Smith of LasVegas and Wilma Jones of Williamsport and two brothers: Rodney Boyles of Warrensville and Harold Boyles of Williamsport. Gene was preceded in death by a foster daughter: Shelli Buck, a sister: Emma McCarty and a brother: Fred Boyles.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market St., Bloomsburg, PA. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am at the Greenwood Christian Church, 92 Eagle Rd. Orangeville with his pastor, Rev. Daniel Belles officiating. Burial will be in the Lemons Cemetery adjacent to the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Columbia Montour Hospice 410 Glenn Ave. Suite 200 Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
