Frank R. Kurian, age 72, of Bloomsburg, died on Sunday, June 11, 2017, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center. Frank was a resident of his home in Beaver Township for over 42 years.
Frank was born on Sunday, January 28, 1945 in, Norristown PA, a son of the late Frank and Anna (Szekacs) Kurian. Throughout his younger years, Frank attended the North Penn area schools, and later graduated from the North Penn High School in 1962.
Following high school graduation, Frank faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War with the US Air Force. He was honorably discharged 1967.
On October 19, 1968, Frank married his loving wife, Charlotte L.(Chyko) Kurian. For over 17 years, Frank was employed by Del Monte Pet Foods until his retirement in 2013. He was a member of the St. Columba Catholic Parish. Frank enjoyed spending his time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed keeping busy with home repairs and improvements as well as relic hunting with his sons.
In addition to his parents, Frank was also preceded by a sister: Elizabeth McGinley.
Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 49 years, Charlotte L. (Chyko) Kurian; five sons:, Frank R. Kurian, Jr. (Deirdre) of Des Moines, WA, Dennis M. Kurian (Jessica) of Fredricksburg, VA, Charles T. Kurian, Sr. (Jennifer) of Bloomsburg, Nicholas J.
Kurian (Rebecca) of West Kingston, RI, Matthew J. Kurian, Sr. (Laura) of Turnersville, NJ; 12 grandchildren: Sierra, Reese, Samantha, Jack, Landis, Blake, Sophia, Matthew, Jr., Madelyne, Abigail, Charles, Jr., and Travis; two siblings: Regina (Elwood) Nice of Telford, PA and Raymond Kurian, Sr. (Pauline) of Nesquehoning PA.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg. A Christian Wake service will begin at 5 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 10:00 am at the St. Columba Catholic Church, Third and Iron Streets, Bloomsburg, with Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence, celebrant. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Kurian family.
