Frances M. Sopko, age 87, of Berwick, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, a patient of the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital in Bloomsburg.

Frances was born on Monday, October 14, 1935, in Berwick, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Stanley and Alice (Kivler) Stuka, Sr. She graduated from the Shickshinny High School in 1953. She was a homemaker all of her life. She wanted it to be known she was the first generation of 5 ladies.

In addition to her parents, Frances was also preceded in death by her husband Alvin Sopko, Sr., her daughter-in-law, Kay Ann Sopko, four siblings: Marie Entosh, Helen Robbins, Ruth Killian and Stanley Stuka, Jr.

Survivors include six children: Alvin Sopko, Jr. of Nanticoke, Cindy Hopper and husband Jeff of Millville, Richard Sopko and wife Judy of Nescopeck, Patricia Sopko of Fayetteville, AR, Scott Eckert and wife Valerie of Drums, Steve Eckert of Allentown; as well as 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Monday February 6, 2023, at 10:00 am at Elan Memorial Park, 5595 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg with Pastor Michael Spagnuolo, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Sopko and Eckert families.
