Frances I. Smith, age 89, of Bloomsburg, died on Tuesday evening, December 27, 2016, a resident of the Geisinger Bloomsburg Health Care Center in Bloomsburg.
Frances was born on Wednesday, August 24, 1927 in Freeport, New York, a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Julia (Tylee) Langdon. Throughout her younger years, Frances attended the Freeport area schools, and later graduated from the Freeport High School in 1945. For a brief time, Frances locally attended the First Church of Christ in Bloomsburg. Frances devoted her time to her husband and family.
In addition to her parents, Frances was also preceded by sister, Ruth Schortemeyer, sister, Ione Reinhard, sister, Gladys Soneson, brother, Seaman Langdon, sister, Inger Nicoletti, brother, David Langdon, brother, Ellsworth Langdon, brother, William Langdon and a sister, Judy Clarke.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 68 years, Albert P. Smith of Bloomsburg, a son, Daniel B. Smith of Bloomsburg, son, David A. Smith of Chapel Hill, NC, daughter, JoAnn Marro and husband, Ralph, of Albertson, NY, daughter, Billie Sue Scotto of Lynbrook, NY, daughter, Julie C. Dillon and husband, David, of Idyllwild, CA, daughter, Susan Machemer and husband, Thomas, of Rockville Centre, NY, a daughter, Frances J. Smith of Manheim, twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren, a brother, Franklin Langdon of Center Moriches, NY, brother, Walter
Langdon of Center Moriches, NY, sister, Phyllis LaFata of East Islip, NY, and a brother, James Langdon of East Islip, NY.
Funeral Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Smith family.
