Florence R. Hayman, age 85, of Old Berwick Road (Lime Ridge), Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 9, 2010 surrounded by her family at her residence following a courageous battle against Parkinson's and Alzheimer Disease.
Florence was born on Thursday, April 2, 1925 in Forty Fort, the daughter of the late Sterling and Harriet (Rees) Mowery. She attended and graduated as a member of the G.A.R. High School Class of 1943 in Wilkes-Barre. For most of her working career she was a desk clerk for Geisinger Medical Center. She also worked as an assistant to several coaches of the Bloomsburg University. She also baked pies and served as a hostess at the former Best Western now the Super 8.
She was a member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church and very active in the Berwick Senior Center. She was a lovely lady much loved by her family and friends.
Surviving is her beloved husband, Keith L. Hayman, Sr., with whom she celebrated their sixty-seventh wedding anniversary in May; a son: Kenneth W. Hayman and his wife, Sharon, of Catawissa; a daughter: Kathy Finsel and her husband, Timothy, of Mifflinville; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and a sister: Gertrude Coleman of Mesa, Arizona.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was a sister: Louise Diestel, a brother: Russell Mowery; and a son: Keith L. Hayman, Jr. on August 23, 1984.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday evening, July 12 from 7 – 9 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home at 745 Market and Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 13 at 10 a.m. from the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church, at 6405 Old Berwick Road in (Lime Ridge), Bloomsburg with her pastor, Rev. Terrence J. Brosius officiating and assisted by Rev. Eileen Chapman. Graveside Services will be held in the Kulp United Methodist Church Cemetery in Catawissa.
