Obituary

Eva Daisy Karnes, age 97, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at her home in Bloomsburg, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Geisinger Hospice.

She was born on Sunday, September 2, 1923 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late John A. Coffey and Martha E. (Smith) Dodson. Daisy graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1941, while in high school she worked for Marietta Dress Shop, Bloomsburg. On June 5, 1944, Daisy married her loving husband, William E. Karnes who preceded her in death on February 25, 1993.

After high school graduation, Daisy worked for Odd Fellows Orphanage, Sunbury, Letterman's Bakery, Bloomsburg, PennDot, Forest & Waters and Columbia County Soil and Conservation Office, as well as WT Grants, Bloomsburg as the Office Manager. Daisy served as a Columbia County Justice Of The Peace for several terms. For over 19 years, Daisy was employed by Central Columbia School District as a cashier in the school cafeteria. After retirement she was top salesperson for Christmas Around The World, where she earned many vacation trips. She was a member of the Bloomsburg Christian Church and attended the First English Baptist Church. She was a lifetime and oldest member of The Susquehanna Valley Corral, Danville and a leader of Central 4 H Horse and Pony Club for 10 years.

Daisy enjoyed spending her time tying and selling fleece blankets, crocheting and doing crafts, playing bingo, playing Mr. Cashman at the casinos, fishing in Fishing Creek and in Canada. She loved traveling, especially to Italy, Alaska, Hawaii, Cancun and Acapulco, Mexico. Along with her late husband they created "Spinner Haven" along Rte. 487 between Lightstreet and Orangeville. She and her husband also made homemade Easter eggs that they sold for many years.

In addition to her parents and husband, Daisy was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Mary C. Karnes.

Survivors include her two beloved children; a daughter, Martee J. Dollman of Bloomsburg, a son, William H. Karnes and his companion Tia Snyder of Mifflinville, four grandchildren, Scott Chappell of Benton, Teri Dollman-Kulp of Nescopeck, Nicholas Karnes and wife Amy of Bloomsburg, Levi Karnes and wife Kayla of Bloomsburg, and eleven great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be celebrated on her birthday, Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 10:00 am at New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy with Rev. Dr. Lee Barnhardt, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth streets, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Karnes family.
