Eugene A. Lynn, age 85, of Bloomsburg, died on Thursday afternoon, March 31, 2016, a patient of the Orangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Orangeville. Eugene was a resident of his home in Bloomsburg for over 48 years.
Eugene was born on Thursday, November 13, 1930 in Berwick , Pennsylvania, a son of the late Alfred and Leatha (Hontz) Lynn. Throughout his younger years, Eugene attended the Benton area schools, and later graduated from the Benton High School in 1949.
On February 15, 1954, Eugene married his loving wife, Rena (Kitchen) Lynn, formerly of Dutch Hill. For over 34 years, Eugene served his country in the United States Air Force until his retirement in 1992. For over 50 years he was employed by the Bloomsburg Fair Association.
Eugene was a member of the Shiloh Bible Church, Almedia. He was also a member of the Oriental Lodge #460 F&AM of Orangeville, the Caldwell Consistory, Ft. McClure VFW Post #804, Bloomsburg American Legion Post #273 and a life-member of the Espy Fire Company.
Eugene loved military life. He enjoyed camping and square dancing in his younger years, spending time with family, raising rose bushes and was an avid fan of Ford automobiles. His companion was his beloved dog Toby.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was also preceded by son, Gary E. Lynn in 1962.
Survivors include his wife, Rena (Kitchen) Lynn of Bloomsburg; a daughter, Gail Leitzel and husband, Robert, of Bloomsburg; a daughter, Brenda Lynn and companion, Scott Frankford, of Berwick; a son, Douglas E. Lynn and wife, Pamela, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three siblings: Alvin, Wilson and Janice.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday evening, April 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Monday, April 4 at 11 a.m. also at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy where a combined VFW and American Legion group will present Military Honors. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Lynn family.
