Eugene W. Angus, age 88, of Bloomsburg, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, a patient of the Signature Health Care at Bloomsburg. Eugene was a resident of his South Centre Township home for over 54 years.
Eugene was born on Wednesday, June 1, 1927 in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Elmer and Elizabeth (Miller) Angus. Throughout his younger years, Eugene attended the Bloomsburg area schools, and later graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1945. Following graduation, he served his country in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1947.
On May 27, 1950, Eugene married his loving wife, Rose M. St. Clair, formerly of Danville. For over 35 years, Eugene was employed by Bell Telephone until his retirement in 1985. Eugene was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Espy. He was also a life member of the Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post #273, Bloomsburg Moose Lodge #623 LOOM and Bloomsburg Elks Lodge #436 and former Friendship Fire Co.
Gene's varied interests included Bowling, Golfing, Fishing and Camping.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded by a brother, Elmer Angus, Jr. Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Rose M. (St. Clair) Angus, 3 daughters: Mary Jane Angus of York, PA, Linda White and husband, James, of Dauphin, PA, Kimberly Holland and husband, Curtis, of Lynchburg, VA, son, John Angus and wife, Elsie of Bloomsburg, PA, 7 grandchildren: Ray Angus, Katie Beth Angus, James White, Jr., Marcie Little, Aaron Taylor, Lauren Taylor and Lindsay Taylor and 5 great grandchildren.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening, April 14, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will begin on Friday morning, April 15, at 10 a.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth St., in Bloomsburg with his pastor, Rev. Gordon E. Smith, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy where military honors will be provided by a joint American Legion and VFW group.
