Ethel D. Sweitzer, age 93, a lifelong resident of Bloomsburg, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025. She had been a patient of the Glenbrook Rehabilitation and Health Center in Berwick.
Ethel was born on Tuesday, April 19, 1932, a daughter of the late Fred and Mabel (Laycock) Stewart. Throughout her younger years, she attended the Bloomsburg area schools. Ethel later began work at Bloom Carpet as a creeler, where she worked for many years. She adored spending her time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ethel also loved great food and wouldn't turn down a game of Bingo.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert; her son, William Sweitzer; her daughter, Betsy Sweitzer; three sisters; Dorthy Arnold, Barbara Gipple, Betty Zettles; two brothers, Fred and Walter Stewart; and her lifelong best friend, Shirley Taylor.
Survivors include her son, Robert "Bob" Sweitzer and wife Linda of Bloomsburg; daughter in law, Cindy Sweitzer of Bloomsburg; a granddaughter, Patricia Shultz and husband Frank of Rohrsburg; three grandsons, Robert "Boo" Sweitzer, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Bloomsburg, William Sweitzer, Jr. and wife Tiffany of Farmington, MO, Michael Sweitzer and girlfriend Kathleen of Danville; as well as several beloved great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
