Obituary

Esther H. Pegg, age 89, formerly of Lightstreet, died on Saturday, August 11, 2012 under the care of Columbia Montour Home Hospice at the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital. She was most recently a resident of Balanced Care at Bloomsburg.
Esther was born on Monday, April 9, 1923 in Millville, a daughter of the late William and Kathryn (Mussleman) Hilliard. Throughout her earlier life, she attended and later graduated from Millville High School. She was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Bloomsburg where she served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She was a member of the church's Sunshine Circle Class and Silver Scissors the Women of E.L.C.A. and also served as co-coordinator of the church's yearly VBS. She was also a member the Lightstreet Fire Co. Auxiliary and became the first elected President. She also served with the Church Women United of Bloomsburg. For many years, she also volunteered at the Voter Registration Desk at the Lightstreet Fire Co. Throughout her entire adult life, she dedicated her love and care to her family.
On October 8, 2011, Esther was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, the late Arnold J. Pegg. She was also preceded by a brother: George Hilliard in 1984.
Survivors include five children: William D. Pegg of Sunbury, Robert A. Pegg and wife, Marie, of Danville, Jean L. Leighow and husband, Jay, of Buckhorn, Joan M. Wynings and husband, Thomas, of Northumberland and Janet K. Morias and husband, Carroll, of Sacramento, CA; four granddaughters: Mary Lou Fairbrother of Berwick, Corenia Lytle of Millville, Julie Klinger of Buckhorn and Nikki Kratzer of Northumberland, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, a niece and a nephew.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 16 from 10 to 11 a.m. from St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9 St. Luke Way, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also be held on Thursday, August 16 at 11 a.m. from the St. Luke Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeffrey G. Bohan, officiating. Graveside services will follow in Lightstreet Highland Cemetery, Scott Township. The Pegg family is being assisted by the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg. Memorial contributions in Esther's honor are suggested to: St. Luke Memorial Fund, 9 St. Lukes Way, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
