Ellis Lee Long, age 97, of Millville and formerly of Bloomsburg passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, a patient of the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Ellis was born on Monday, December 7, 1925, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Isaac and Alvaretta "Retta" (Swisher) Long. He graduated from Bloomsburg High School. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged on June 15, 1946. Ellis married his loving wife, Dorothy Marie Heaps who preceded him in death in 1973. He was self-employed at Long's Disposal until his retirement. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed spending his time being an avid fisherman and hunter.
In addition to his parents and his spouse, he was also preceded in death by nine of his siblings. He is the last of his immediate family.
Survivors include his four children: Carol Weaver of Bloomsburg, Rick Long and wife Jane of Millville, Tammy Altomare and husband Anthony of Bloomsburg, Brenda Long and her companion Jean Riley of Hector, NY, also: ten grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Long family.
