Ellen Jane Ketchem, age 87, of Danville and formerly of Bloomsburg, passed away on Wednesday morning, September 14, 2022, at The Gardens at Millville.
She was born on Wednesday, September 11, 1935, in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Kurwin C. Gearinger and Jane E. (Samuels) Fought. Ellen graduated from the Bloomsburg High School and The DASD Practical Nursing School, graduating with an Associate Degree in Nursing. Ellen married her loving husband of 60 years, Robert F. Ketchem, who preceded her in death on September 24, 2012. For over 20 years, Ellen was employed by Bloomsburg Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse until her retirement on October 30, 1997.
She was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, Bloomsburg. She was also a member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary, the Bloomsburg American Legion, the Bloomsburg VFW, the Bloomsburg Moose Lodge, the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge, and the Girls Knitting Club. Ellen enjoyed going to Atlantic City, spending time with family and friends, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ellen was also preceded in death by three sons, Michael Ketchem, Robert L. Ketchem, Daniel L. Ketchem, and a brother-in-law, Charles Marks.
Survivors include her two beloved children: Terry D. Ketchem and wife Aricia of Danville, Tracy J. Brown and husband Craig of Bloomsburg, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, six siblings; Maryann Yeager and husband Larry of Mifflinville, Alyce Marks of Bloomsburg, Donald Fought and wife Nancy of Bloomsburg, Susan Sanoski, Helen Gearinger, Charles Roberts, two daughters-in-law, Marci Ketchem of Harrisburg, and Karen Ketchem of IN.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Allison J. Carnahan, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Ketchem family.
