Ellen J. Heier, age 89, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Friday morning, September 9, 2022.
She was born on Sunday, October 16, 1932 in Scranton, a daughter of the late Emil and Rose (Yanno) Carrano. In her younger years she was raised in Scranton and attended the West Scranton High School. On June 4, 1956, Ellen married her loving husband, William T. Heier, who preceded her in death on August 20, 1976. Ellen was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg. She loved spending time with family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ellen enjoyed knitting, crocheting, word puzzles, adult coloring books, and watching Western movies, especially John Wayne. She also enjoyed listening to music by Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ellen was also preceded in death by a sister, MaryLou Kudajeski, and a brother, Michael Carrano.
Survivors include her four beloved children: Sandra L. Remaly and husband Charles, Linda C. Michael and husband Van, William M. Heier and wife Sandy, and Eric J. Heier all of Bloomsburg, eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg with Rev. Richard J. Mowery, officiating. Private graveside committal services will be held in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Heier family.
