Elizabeth C. "Betty" Deaner, age 101, passed away on Thursday evening, October 9, 2025, a patient of the Vintage Knolls, Danville. She was a resident of her home in Millville for over 65 years.

Betty was born on Friday, August 29, 1924 in Keysville, Virginia, a daughter of the late James Thomas Carey and Eva L. (Savage) Roberts. After the passing of her father, Betty's family relocated to Mifflinville where she would later graduate from the Mifflinville High School as valedictorian in 1942. She expanded her education by attending Bloomsburg State Teachers College and Bucknell University. On April 12, 1946, Betty married her loving husband, Wayne E. Deaner, who preceded her in death on January 11, 1998.

Betty was a member of the Christian Gospel Fellowship Church, Millville. During WWII she worked in the ACF office. For over 25 years, Betty was employed by 1st National Bank as a bank teller until her retirement in 1981. Following her retirement, Betty found her passion in herbs. She was a member of the Fishing Creek Herb Guild and spent over 20 years working in the Bloomsburg Fair Agricultural Herb Department. She was in charge of all herbs brought into the fair and she was incredibly proud of the variety of different herbs. Her greatest joy was not only growing, and using her herbs in cooking and crafts, but sharing her knowledge with others.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was also preceded in death by her son, Perry F. Deaner; her brother, James F. Roberts Jr.; and her step sister, Elnora Leiby.

Survivors include her daughter, Melissa A. Stiner and husband Dale of Millville; six grandchildren, Manae Deaner of AZ, Michael Deaner of OR, Jeff Stiner and wife Kelly of Millville, Gregg Stiner and wife, Rhiannon, of ME; Elizabeth Deaner of Wilkes Barre, Rachel Deaner of Bloomsburg; six great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Christian Gospel Fellowship Church, 2938 PA State Rte 42, Millville.

Funeral Services will begin on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Christian Gospel Fellowship Church in Millville with Pastor Mark Boyer, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Millville Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street is honored to be serving the Deaner family.
