Elizabeth N. Aurand, age 84, of Bloomsburg, died on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Columbia Montour Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville. Elizabeth was a resident of Bloomsburg since 1948. She was born on Friday, July 29, 1927 in Mt. Pleasant Mills a daughter of the late Harry and Beulah Newman Klingler.
Elizabeth was a 1945 graduate of the Selinsgrove High School. For many years she was employed at the House of Fabrics on Market Square, Bloomsburg. She was last employed at Sunshine Laundry, retiring in 1989.
As a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church for over 50 years, Mrs. Aurand was active in the LCW, the Altar Guild, the Choir, Sunday School as a teacher and St. Matthew Quilters. Also she was a long time volunteer in the Library of the Memorial Elementary School.
Elizabeth will be remembered by her daughter: Patricia M. Duncan of Milton; 2sons: Steven C. Mengle and wife, Janet, of Bloomsburg and Chris Aurand and wife, Rebecca, of Nescopeck: five grandchildren Jennifer McIver and husband, Bruce and their children, Naomi and Eden of Melbourne, Australia; Katie and Kimberley Mengle of Bloomsburg: Jessica Lynn of Nescopeck and Sean Gorzynski of Nescopeck. Also surviving is a brother: Gary Klingler and wife, Joyce, of Freeburg and a daughter-in-law: Donna Aurand of Wapwalopen.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her first husband: Leon W. Mengle on April 24, 1987 and by her second husband: Harry K Aurand on July 12, 2010.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 30 from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 Market St. Bloomsburg. A Service to honor her life and faith will begin at 1:00 p.m. with her pastor, Rev. Joel L. Zeiders officiating. Family will provide flowers; contributions in Elizabeth's memory are suggested to St. Matthew Memorial Fund or Columbia Montour Hospice at Maria Hall 410 Glenn Ave. Bloomsburg.
