Obituary

Edwin S. "Eddie" Brobst, Jr., age 72, of Bloomsburg, died Tuesday, January 12, at the Columbia Montour Hospice at Maria Hall where he resided since Monday. He was a resident of his Main Twp. home since 1972 and formerly resided in Bloomsburg. He had been in failing health for several months. Eddie was born September 26, 1937 in Bloomsburg a son of the late Edwin, Sr. and Dorothea Schechterly Brobst. He attended the Fifth Street Elementary School and graduated from the Bloomsburg High School in 1956. Following graduation he enlisted in the US Marine Corps as a Para Marine with the 2nd Pioneer Battalion stationed at Camp LaJune, NC. He served from January 16, 1956 to March 29, 1959. Upon discharge from his military career, Eddie was employed at the former Magee Carpet Co. for 16 years. Afterward he was an aide and staff artist at the Selinsgrove State School for 23 years. Eddie enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins fan. He especially enjoyed visiting his friends at Dunkin Donuts every morning for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Jody Ann; two sisters: Jaqueline Dalo and Gail Evert and a brother: Jay Brobst. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years: Wanda Dawson Brobst; two daughters: Lori Rayfield and husband, Allen, of Dryden, WA and Darla Jannetty and husband, Vincent, of Pittsburgh; one son: Michael Brobst and wife, Diane, of Franklin VA; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth St. on Sunday, January 17 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 18 at 11 A.M. at the Allen Funeral Home, with his pastor Rev. Joel L. Zeiders of St. Mathew Lutheran Church officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to: Columbia Montour Home Hospice at Maria Hall, 410 Glenn Ave Suite #200, Bloomsburg.
