Edna Elizabeth Hileman, age 100, formerly of Bloomsburg, died peacefully with family by her side on Sunday March 27, 2011 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Edna was born on Thursday, October 13, 1919 in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Arthur and Amanda Shellenberger Hobson.
After graduating from Rider College in Lawrenceville, NJ, Edna moved to Bloomsburg where she worked at First Columbia Bank and Trust. She was also employed by Hidlay Oil Company. She retired from the Morning Press as a bookkeeper in 1973. She also served as Bookkeeper and Treasurer for the Town of Bloomsburg for many years.
Edna was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bloomsburg and was also a Life Member of the Bloomsburg Chapter #279 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, A. Elwood Hileman and three brothers and a sister.
Surviving are two daughters: Donna Slack and her husband, Robert, of Virginia Beach, VA and Bonnie Fiedler and her husband, James, of Bloomsburg; five granddaughters: Suzanne Camden of Virginia Beach, VA; Bobbi Jo Hudspeth of Suffolk, VA; Elizabeth Fiedler of Philadelphia; Caitlin Boire of Portland, OR; and Rachel Fiedler of Rochester, NY; two great-grandchildren: Toby Hudspeth and Caroline Camden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received on Saturday, April 2, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. The Immediate family will provided flowers. Memorial contributions are suggested to her church, First Presbyterian Church, 345 Market Street , Bloomsburg, PA 17815 or a charity of the donor's choice.
