Edith "Eadie" (Nuss) Girton, age 82, of Bloomsburg, died at her home on Tuesday, December 02, 2014, under the care of Geisinger-Columbia Montour Hospice.
Eadie was born on Monday, June 20, 1932 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Thomas and Beatrice (Gower) Nuss. She attended the Bloomsburg High School. For over 10 years, Eadie was the owner and operator of the former Girton Bakery in Bloomsburg. On December 22, 1967, Eadie married her loving husband, Loren E. Girton of Bloomsburg.
As a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Eadie was very active in the church kitchen for over 20 years. She helped with funeral meals, making Shrove Tuesday donuts and meals for special activities.
In addition to her parents, Eadie was also preceded in death by a son, Gregory A. Girton on March 26, 2003.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 47 years, Loren E. Girton, of Bloomsburg; a daughter: Cheryl Blass and companion, Wayne LeVan, of Catawissa; four sons: Dan Beyer and wife, Deborah, of Bloomsburg; Larry Beyer and wife, Deborah, of Youngstown, OH; and Steven Girton and wife, Deborah, of Carlisle; ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and also a sister: Joyce McBride of Bloomsburg.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 5 at 3 p.m. in the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 101 East Fifth St., Bloomsburg with her pastor, Audrey Brosious and Chaplain Christian Dunlap of Columbia Montour Home Hospice, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Lime Ridge.
