E. David Frey , age 85, of Bloomsburg and formerly of Schroon Lake, NY and Conestoga, PA, died on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at his Scott Township home surrounded by his family and under the care of Geisinger Hospice.
Dave was born on Tuesday, January 12, 1932 in Conestoga, a son of the late David W. and Martha (Good) Frey.
Dave completed his education while serving his country in the US Army. He was Honorably Discharged in 1956.
On June 19, 1955, David married his loving wife, Phyllis J.Newcomer. For over 20 years, he was employed by Word of Life Fellowship of Schroon Lake NY as a Mechanic until his retirement . For many years Dave was a member of Mountain Side Bible Chapel, Schroon Lake and most recently has attended West Port Bible Church, West Port, NY. He enjoyed spending his time gardening, hunting, and woodworking. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Dave was also preceded by several siblings: Florence Oesch, Roy Frey, Hazel Hess, Samuel Frey, Rhoda Botterbusch, and Mary Frey.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years: Phyllis J. Frey; two daughters: Debra L. Harden and husband, Rev. Timothy D., of Melbourne, FL and Carla A. Hrinda and husband, Scott A., of Bloomsburg, 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and four siblings: Rev.John A. Frey and wife, Florence, of Sharpsville, Paul A. Frey and wife, Deb, of New Milford, Jerry Frey and wife Judy of Dushore and Martha Redcay of Lancaster.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 12 Brookside Drive, Danville, PA 17821.
Funeral Services will continue on Saturday at 2:00 pm with his pastor, Rev. Dawes Dunham, and his brother, Rev. John A. Frey, officiating. Graveside committal services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery at a later date. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Frey family.
