E. Jane (Edkin) Watts, age 74, of Millville, died unexpectedly on Thursday morning, March 13, 2014 in the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital Emergency Room.
Jane was born on Tuesday, March 28, 1939 in Eagles Mere, a daughter of the late Earl and Iola (Andrews) Edkin. Throughout her younger years, Jane attended and later graduated in 1957 from the former Sonestown High School. Shortly following her high school education, Jane attended and graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Geisinger Hospital School of Nursing in Danville. While working at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia, Jane met and married her husband, John Lloyd Watts, on September 23, 1961. Jane was employed by the Meadville City Hospital and most recently by the Lewistown Hospital until her retirement in 1998. After marrying her husband, Jane lived and raised her family in Meadville before moving to Lewistown, and eventually retiring to Millville.
In addition to caring for her family, Jane and her husband were avid bridge players. While living in Millville, Jane was actively involved with the Society of Good Intent. In addition to these activities, Jane loved a good book, a challenging crossword puzzle and was widely appreciated for her baking and cooking skills.
Jane was recently preceded by her beloved husband of 51 years, the late John Lloyd Watts, on August 7, 2013.
Survivors include her two daughters: Linda J. Watts of Sioux Falls, SD; and Cheryl L. Watts of Albany, NY; a sister: Dorothea Ryan Wickersham and husband, William of Columbia, SC and James Edkin and wife, Mary Lou, of Branson, MO.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday evening, March 16 from 3 to 5 p.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 107 W. Main at Railroad Street, Millville.
A funeral procession will gather on Monday morning, March 17 at 10 a.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 107 W. Main at Railroad Street, Millville with graveside services to immediately follow in the Millville Cemetery with Rev. Robert Strozyk, officiating. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Millville is honored to be serving the Watts family.
