Dr. Drew R. Miller, age 77, of Park Street in Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, January 29, 2011, after a long illness.
Drew was born on Thursday, September 14, 1933 in Berwick, the son of the late Ray W. and Blanche E. Baker Miller. He was a graduate of the former Mifflinville High School. He attended Elizabethtown College, and graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. He also took courses in Applied Kinesiology for a period of 25 years. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Society and also the International Chiropractic Association. He retired from his practice, on Park Street in Bloomsburg, after 37 years of dedicated service to his patients.
Out of a love for his patients and the desire to give them the best care possible, he devoted much of his professional life to the study of Advanced Applied Kinesiology.
He grew up in the Berwick and Mifflinville Area and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Berwick. After moving to Bloomsburg he became a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Bloomsburg for over 45 years. He served as an usher and greeter at church services. He was a member of the Washington Lodge #265, Caldwell Consistory, Columbia County Shrine Club and Irem Temple Shrine.
He enjoyed golf, playing cards, traveling, camping and dancing with the Danjo Wheelers Square Dance Club. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and hunting. He belonged to the Hazel Hart Hunting Club of Lycoming County. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by wife, Madelyn H. Bond Miller. Also surviving are three children: Lori, wife of Robert C. Robbins, Delray Beach, FL; Valerie, wife of William Fought, of Bloomsburg; and Kent W. Miller and his wife, Amy, of Farmer City, IL.; nine grandchildren: Taryn, Dustin, Cecelia, Rae, Robby, Drew, Jacob, Shelley and Josh; and three great-grandsons: Cayden, Carter and Ryder.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 5 at 11 a.m. from the Wesley United Methodist Church, 3rd and Market Streets in Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Jay E. Jones, officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside Services will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick. The Miller family is being assisted by Allen Funeral Home, 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
