Douglas C. Swisher, age 66, formerly of Bloomsburg, went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, February 7, 2013. He currently resided at the Orangeville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center since 2003.
Doug was born on Friday, September 13, 1946 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Arthur H. and Blanche (Crawford) Swisher, Sr. At an early age, Doug was diagnosed with multiple disabilities which he learned to manage and develop in his life accordingly. During his younger years, he attended the Bloomsburg Area Schools and he also attended the Fowlerville United Methodist Church with his family for many years. Doug also worked for many years at SUNCOM Industries, Inc., in Bloomsburg. His family cared for his needs continuously, and he will be greatly missed. Doug loved spending time with his family and enjoyed his Church family very much.
In addition to his late parents, Doug was also preceded by a sister in infancy, Donna Lee Swisher in November of 1943.
Survivors include a sister, Debra S. Davis of Berwick; a brother, Arthur H. Swisher, Jr. and wife, Vivianne, of Bloomsburg; a niece: Tammy Tarlecky and husband, Joe, of Bloomsburg; and nephews: Kevin Swisher of Bloomsburg and Joshua Davis and wife, Jennifer, of Nescopeck.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, February 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Monday, February 11 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg with Pastor Terry Brosius of the Fowlersville United Methodist Church, officiating.
