Dorothy M. "Dot" (Confer) Folk, age 78, of Watsontown, died on Thursday evening, December 31, 2015 a recent resident of the Muncy Skilled Nursing Center. Prior to moving to Watsontown, Dot resided on Surrey Lane in Bloomsburg.
Dot was born on Thursday, April 8, 1937 in Lewisburg, one of four daughters to the late Walter and Elsie (Beaver) Confer. While being raised in the Danville area, she graduated from the Danville High School in 1954. She was a long-time member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Grovania. In addition to raising her three daughters, Dot was employed outside of the home as a bus driver in the Bloomsburg School District for over eighteen years. Most recently, she was employed by the former Bloomsburg Hospital until her retirement. Dot loved spending time with her family and especially time with her six grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmer F. "Bud" Folk, Jr., who passed on May 26, 2005.
Surviving are her three daughters: Cathy M. Mertz and husband, Steven, of Dauphin; Susan K. Lose and husband, Roger, of Watsontown; and Donna F. Doyle and husband, John, of Hillsborough, NC; six grandchildren: Alan Mertz, Cynthia Lose, Ryan Lose, Nick Lose, Michael Doyle and Thomas Doyle; and three sisters: Fay Beaver of Montandon; Carolyn Carroll of Watsontown; and Virginia Shultz of Danville.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday morning, January 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. 745 Market at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will also begin on Tuesday morning, January 5 at 11 a.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. in Bloomsburg with Rev. Brian Cieslukowski, of the St. John United Methodist Church in Dewart, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church (Straub's) Cemetery in Frosty Valley.
