Dorothy L. Kessler, age 94, of Bloomsburg, died on Friday, July 27, 2018, a patient of the Nottingham Village. Northumberland. Dorothy was a resident of her home in Scott Township for over 24 years.
Dorothy was born on Wednesday, December 19, 1923 in Eyers Grove, a daughter of the late Ralph C. and Florence C. (Smith) Lyons. Throughout her younger years, Dorothy attended the Millville area schools, and later graduated from the Millville High School in 1941. She expanded her education by attending Godwin Business College, Williamsport. Dorothy was employed by Maritime Commission Washington DC as a Secretary. She also was employed by the Bloomsburg Hospital and Service Electric.
Dorothy was a member of the Daughters of America . She was a published author. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy research, and studying Native American Culture.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was also preceded by a son, Steven J. Kessler and siblings: Jean Kessler, Virginia Crawford and Ralph Lyons, Jr.
Survivors include her chlidren: Patricia Runyan and husband, John, of Bloomsburg, Carl T. Kessler and wife, Susan, of Winfield, and Galen M. Kessler and wife, Deborah, of Metamora, IL, and
6 grandchildren. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Millville Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Kessler family.
