Obituary

Dorothy McEwen Buck, age 93 of Bloomsburg passed away on Wednesday September 18, 2024, at her home. She was born on October 30, 1930, in Ringtown, a daughter of the late William and Mary (O'Neil) Eisenhauer. She graduated from Bloomsburg High School, class of 1948. After graduation, she immediately was employed by Bell Telephone Co. of PA where she worked until her retirement in 1977.

On August 2, 1952, she married her first husband Robert L. McEwen in St. Columba Catholic Church. They shared 57 wonderful years together until his death in October 2009. She then was married to her second husband, Kenneth Buck, who was her high school sweetheart, until his death in February 2014.

Dorothy loved sending greeting cards for every occasion to everyone she knew. She also loved all dogs, always having a treat for them to enjoy. She loved to dance with her first husband, especially ballroom dancing. She also loved the sport of basketball and in her younger years never missed a high school or Bloomsburg University game, as a Panther or Husky fan. She also watched basketball games on tv. She really loved to play cards, especially poker, going to the casinos and playing the lottery. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the AARP. In her earlier years she belonged to the Women of the Moose and the Elkettes.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and her two husbands were three sisters; Alice Beltz, Ruth Moodie and Lucy Fanelli, her stepdaughter; Teri Annis, two nephews; Dennis Stackhouse, Rex Stackhouse and a great niece; Michelle Faux.

Survivors include her four wonderful nephews who were her pride and joy and were always there when she needed them: Richard Faux and wife Gloria of Bloomsburg, Rodney Faux and wife Tammy of Kathleen, GA, Robert Faux of Fairborn, OH, and Kerry Stackhouse and wife Kathy of FL, four nieces, Dottie Rhone and husband Richard of Bloomsburg, Anita Fanelli of Treasure Island, FL, Darlene Beaver and husband Robert of Catawissa, Eileen F. Patterson and husband Richard of Mechanicsburg, three step-grandchildren, Erin McCurdy, Erik Annis, Nancy Light and husband Michael, six step-great-grandchildren; Britney, Jakob, Rylen, Dalten, Haven and Harper all of South Carolina.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg with Rev. Richard J. Mowery, celebrant. Private burial next to her first husband will be held in New Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth street, Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Buck family.
