Dorothy M. Bittenbender, age 88, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021, a resident of Emmanuel Nursing Center in Danville. Dorothy was a resident of her home in Scott Township for over 62 years.
She was born on Wednesday, March 15, 1933, a daughter of the late Alda Helwig. Dorothy graduated from the former Locust Twp. High School, Numidia in 1952. On June 25, 1955, Dorothy married her loving husband, Heister H. Bittenbender Jr. For over 42 years, Dorothy was employed by Milco Industries, Bloomsburg, as a seamstress until her retirement in 1993. She attended St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg. Dorothy enjoyed spending her time doing crafts, gardening and traveling across the United States. She loved dogs, especially Yorkshire Terriers.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 65 years, Heister H. Bittenbender, Jr.; two sons, Alan W. Bittenbender and wife Luanne of Bloomsburg, Heister H. Bittenbender, III and companion Jenny Jones of Danville and one grandson, Zachary Welliver of Danville.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will begin on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Michael Spagnuolo, pastor of Catawissa Christian Church, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Bittenbender family.
