Doris M. Monroe, age 82, of Bloomsburg, died on Saturday, November 26, 2022, a patient of the Sunset Ridge Health Care Center in Bloomsburg.
She was born on Saturday, July 20, 1940 in Mifflinville, a daughter of the late Franklin and Helen (Slusser) Deebel. She graduated from the Central Columbia School in 1958. On September 20, 1958, Doris married her loving husband, James M. Monroe Jr. For over 32 years, Doris was employed by Columbia Montour Vo-Tech School as a Cafeteria Worker until her retirement in 2002. Doris was a member of the Canby Lutheran Church and also is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Throughout the years of the children growing up Doris helped out with the adventures the children were involved with. Doris enjoyed spending her time camping and boating. She loved spending time with family and the grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Doris was also preceded in death by her husband James and brother, John Deebel.
Survivors include her two daughters: Brenda Dent and husband Fred of Bloomsburg, Wanda Achy and husband Brian of Muncy, a son: Wayne Monroe and wife Lois Jean of Bloomsburg; four granddaughters: Becky White and husband Andrew of Bloomsburg, Stephanie Sweitzer and husband Robert of Bloomsburg, Nicole Sible and husband Andy of Laceyville and Laura Bowman and husband Bret of Bloomsburg; three grandsons: Jacob Dent and wife Jill of Berwick, Jesse Monroe and wife Tanesha of Galeton and Matthew Bissinger of Delmar, MD; nine great-grandsons: Hunter Thomas, Gage Michael, Anthony Sweitzer, Brycen Sweitzer, Garen White, and Tanner Bowman all of Bloomsburg, Wyatt Dent of Berwick, Dean Monroe of Galeton, and Hudson Sible of Laceyville; six great-granddaughters: Ava Michael and Sawyer Bowman both of Bloomsburg, Betsy Sweitzer of Catawissa, Lyla Dent of Berwick, Oakley Sible of Laceyville, and Rylie Monroe of Galeton; a sister: Nancy Keller of Bloomsburg; two sisters-in-law: Ann Hock of Bloomsburg and Mame Monroe of Benton and a brother-in-law: Frank Monroe and wife Linda of Bloomsburg.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eight Street, Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will continue on Thursday, at 2:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor Stanley L. Bower, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Lightstreet Highland Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to be serving the Monroe family.
