Donald E. Neyhard, age 80, died on Friday morning, March 20, 2015 a resident of the Orangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center for one week. Donald was a lifelong resident of Bloomsburg, being born in Bloomsburg on Friday, August 19, 1934 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late John and Louise (Gibb) Neyhard.
After graduating from the Bloomsburg High School in 1952, Donald served as a Merchant Seaman for 3 years, traveling extensively. He was then employed by Bell of Pennsylvania and AT&T until his retirement. He then operated his own business, Neyhard Telephone Service as a PBX installer and technician for Bloomsburg University, Milco Ind., Magee Carpet Co. , Geisinger Medical Center and surrounding businesses.
Donald was an avid Penn State fan and enjoyed reading, boating and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years: Marion (Shaffer) Neyhard originally of Lime Ridge. Also surviving are three daughters: Lynn Major of Keene NH, Lisa White and husband, Thatcher of Manhattan Beach CA and Laurel Neyhard of Bloomsburg; a son: Donald E. Neyhard II of Norwich CT, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a sister Edith Barton of Bloomsburg.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by four siblings: Mary Baker, Ralph Neyhard, Carl Neyhard, Skyles Neyhard and Robert Neyhard.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church, 8th and Market St., Bloomsburg with Elder Henry Shaffer presiding. Family and friends will gather at the family home following the services. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Sts. Bloomsburg is honored to be serving the Neyhard family.
