Donald L. Ernst Sr., age 81, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019, a patient of the Bloomsburg Care and Rehabilitation Center. Donald was a resident of his home in Bloomsburg for over 6 years.
He was born on Sunday, April 18, 1937 in Ashland, a son of the late Harry L. and Margaret Louise (Krebs) Ernst. Donald faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force. For many years, Donald was self employed as a brick layer until his retirement. He was a social member of the East End Fire Company, Danville, a member of the Washingtonville Fire Co., a life member of the Continental Fire Co, Danville, a member of the American Legion Post 40, Danville, the Ft. McClure, VFW #804, Bloomsburg, and the Loyal Order of Moose #1133, Danville. Donald enjoyed spending his time going to all the area carnivals, playing pool and shuffleboard, and watching the NFL, especially his favorite team the New England Patriots. He loved having breakfast at The Bloomsburg Diner, and spending time with his niece, Denise and her dog Cooper.
In addition to his parents, Donald was also preceded by three brothers, Thomas Ernst, Harry Ernst, Robert Ernst, two sisters, Sarah Hill, and Sandy Ernst.
Survivors include three children Donald E. Ernst, Jr. of Bloomsburg, Donna M. wife of Mike McCoy of Berwick, and Dwayne Ernst and wife Marie of Bloomsburg, a grandson, Mitch Ernst of State College, a sister, Audrey Rosinski of Ashland, and his niece and caregiver, Denise M. Latsha of Bloomsburg.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Ernst family.
