Donald J. Dunne, Jr., age 65, of Bloomsburg, died on Friday, October 28, 2016, surrounded by his family, tenderly cared for by his wife and under the care of Columbia Montour Hospice.
Donald was born on Saturday, September 29, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York, a son of the late Donald J. and Mary (Flynn) Dunne. Donald attended and later graduated from the Most Holy Trinity High School of Brooklyn NY in 1969.
On June 9, 1973, Donald married his loving wife, Theresa A. (Gasiorowski) Dunne. For over 45 years, Donald was employed by Steamfitters Local 638 Long Island City, NY as an Journeyman Pipefitter/Welder. Donald was a member of the St. Columba Catholic Parish. He was also an inspiration to the Fellowship. He was an active volunteer with the Bloomsburg Food Cupboard. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family especially his grandchildren and five sisters. He reveled in family vacations and going to the beach at Ocean City, MD with the tradition of going to Ripley's Believe It Or Not and Sea Shell City. He loved to talk and make everyone laugh. Also, Donald enjoyed fishing and playing basketball and he loved his dog Jake. Donald's creativity was truly enjoyed by all.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 43 years, Theresa A.Dunne; son, Donald J. (Amanda) Dunne III of Bloomsburg; daughter, Jill M. (Brian) Heintzelman of Bloomsburg: grandchildren: Madison Heintzelman, Cort Heintzelman, Cole Heintzelman, Ella Mae Heintzelman, Vivian Dunne, and Kellan Dunne; sisters: Geraldine Barnes (Donald) of Staten Island NY, Carol Ann Cherne (Mel) of Colton CA, Elizabeth Fossum (Chester) of Palos Verdes CA, Mary Staruch (John) of Solomons Island MD and Bernadette Gomez (Phil) of Moreno Valley CA.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth St., Bloomsburg. A Christian Wake service will begin at 6 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial begin on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 10:00 am at the St. Columba Catholic Church, Third and Iron Sts., Bloomsburg, with Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence, celebrant. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the New Rosemont Cemetery. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Dunne family.
