Obituary

Donald J. Dieffenbacher, age 92, of Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2020, at his home in Hemlock Twp.

He was born on Monday, May 7, 1928 at the family home in Hemlock Twp., a son of the late Kester Eusebius and Agnes Gertrude (Maust) Dieffenbacher. Don graduated from the Bloomsburg Area High School in 1945. On November 27, 1948 Don married his loving wife, the former Marjorie G. Laubach. He owned and operated Springdale Farms in Hemlock Twp. along with his father and brother, Harold.

Don was a member of the First Baptist Church, Danville, serving in various capacities. Throughout his life, he served with the Buckhorn Fire Department, the Bloomsburg Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Bloomsburg Area School Board, the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge #436, the Hemlock Township Sewer Authority and as a Hemlock Township Supervisor. Following WW II, he assisted with transporting livestock to Greece with the Merchant Marines. He enjoyed his time hunting, woodworking, golfing, boating, fishing, gardening, and loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Allen, Ruth Smith, and a brother, Harold Dieffenbacher.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 71 years, Marjorie G. Dieffenbacher, four children; Scott Dieffenbacher and wife Patricia of Shavertown, Debra wife of Thomas Decker of Bloomsburg, Denise wife of Daniel Ottaviani of Bloomsburg, Mark Dieffenbacher and wife Fiona of New York, NY, six grandchildren, Heather wife of Jason Locy of New York, NY, Eric Dieffenbacher and wife Lesley of Dallas, PA, Bradley Dieffenbacher and wife Adrienne of Shavertown, Jerry Decker of Phoenixville, Monica Long of Bloomsburg, Andrea wife of Caleb Meyers of Smithfield, NC, and twelve great grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg with Rev. Dr. Harry H. Wonderland and Rev. Dawes Dunham, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in Dutch Hill Cemetery, Bloomsburg. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Dieffenbacher family.
