Dixie M. (Hock) Bardo, age 73, of Madrid Avenue, Bloomsburg passed away early Wednesday morning, June 9, 2010 at her home. She had been ill for the past two years. Born on Friday, June 19, 1936 in Bloomsburg, she was a daughter of the late Horace H. "Tinker" and Thelma D. (Wood) Hock. She attended the Mt. Pleasant Township School and graduated from Bloomsburg High School, Class of 1954. Mrs. Bardo had been employed by various industrial firms including Bloomsburg Silk Mill, Milco Industries and Consolidated Cigar Company. She worked at the former Hud's Restaurant and for seven years at Deluxe Homes, Berwick. She was last employed at Newport Homes Inc., Pine Grove, Pa. as a supervisor until retiring due to an industrial accident in 1983. She attended the Canby Lutheran Church as a child and later the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg for many years. Earlier in life she enjoyed hunting with her sons and later enjoyed gardening, painting birdhouses, soap making, sewing, cooking and card games with friends. She was a very dedicated mother and grandmother and most especially loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus L. (Roy) Bardo in 1982; her first husband, Richard E. Cain in 2007; and her eldest son, Douglas E. Cain in 1984. Dixie is survived by four sons, Randy Cain and his wife, Linda, Benton; Rick Cain, Orangeville; Todd M. Cain, Millville; and Joe Bardo, Bloomsburg; a daughter: Dixie Lee Bardo, Bloomsburg; Grandsons: Tyson E. Cain, Camp Hill, Pa. and Shale J. Bardo, Bloomsburg; brothers, Terry W. Hock and his wife, Patti, Bloomsburg, Gary M. Hock, and Timothy J. Hock, both of Durham, NC; a sister, Dolores (Renee) Nichols and her husband, Richard, Bloomsburg; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 14 at 10 a.m. in the Bloomsburg Christian Church, 107 Deussen Drive, Bloomsburg with Eric Miller, Lead Minister of the church, officiating. Private interment will be in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. A Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 13 from 6 - 8 pm. from the Allen Funeral Home at 745 Market Street at Eighth Street in Bloomsburg.
