Dennis W. Artley, age 72, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019, at his Montour Twp. home, where he resided for the past five years.
He was born on Sunday, June 1, 1947 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late William and Rhona (Bauman) Artley. Throughout his younger years, Dennis attended the Bloomsburg area schools, where he was very active in sports, including football, baseball and wrestling,and later graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1965. Dennis expanded his education by attending Hyles Anderson Baptist College, Chicago, IL, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management in 1979.
He faithfully served his country in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968. On February 12, 1982, Dennis married his loving wife, the former Linda E. Klinger. For many years, Dennis was employed as a Plant Manager in the Food Industry, including Hanover Foods and Chef Boyardee until his retirement in 2014. He was a Democratic Committee Member for Montour Township, and a member of The Columbia County Indivisible Group. Dennis loved spending his time traveling with his wife, taking walks in nature, woodworking and shooting photography. He enjoyed working in his yard during the spring and summer months and loved to spend time with his family. He was a kind gentle man and had many friends.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 37 years, Linda E. Artley, at home, a daughter, Angela K. wife of Darrin Trombley of Berwick, a son, Kristopher G. Samuels and wife Tara of Bloomsburg, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, a brother, Steve Artley of Hershey, and his in laws, Herschel H. and Marlene Klinger of Bloomsburg.
A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Streets, Bloomsburg.
Graveside committal services will be held privately at the convenience of the family in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy, with a combined American Legion and VFW contingent to provide military honors. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Artley family.
