Obituary

Delmar R. Zeisloft, age 79, contractor and accomplished developer, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 surrounded by his family following a short illness.

He was born on December 16, 1938, a son of the late Harold and Martha (Smith) Zeisloft. He spent his growing up years in Jerseytown along with 12 siblings.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Harold, Jr., James and Charles and one sister, Doris Kressler.

Delmar is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Marjorie (Smith) Zeisloft at home and formerly of Eyers Grove, daughter Cynthia Zeisloft Ament, and her husband John, of Doylestown, PA, sons D. Todd Zeisloft and his wife Patti of Wilmington, NC, and Bryan Zeisloft, of Boulder, CO. Delmar loved and mentored his six grandchildren, Derrick Hess (wife Kristy), of Orangeville, Justin Hess, of Bloomsburg, Grant Hess, of Danville, Lindsay Zeisloft Hill, (husband Drew) of Holly Springs, NC, Josh Zeisloft (wife Bruna) of Silver Springs, MD, Jarrett Zeisloft, of Willmington, NC. He will be greatly missed by his seven great grandchildren Alycia and Katie Hess, Violet Hess, Lucy, Cael and Bryn Hill, and Ella Zeisloft. Two brothers, Wilmer and Gerald and six sisters, Ruth Z. Smith, Eunice Hackenberger, Kay Temple, Joyce Harding, Ann Beagle and Leona Laubach.

He was a pioneer of off campus education using International Correspondence School to begin his engineering career and Bucknell University to further his vocation. Working with his brother James D. Zeisloft at AC Hack & Sons, his first bridge construction job was over the Monongahela River near Pittsburgh. After establishing Zeisloft Construction Company Inc. in 1966 he built local bridges including the Berwick Nescopeck bridge. Working with PennDot satisfied his competitive nature and awarded Zeisloft Construction Company many successful bids. Locally, they built several bridge structures across Fishing Creek from Bloomsburg to Central Park, Pennsylvania. After his brother James' retirement, Delmar became the owner of Zeisloft Construction Company and turned to his love of developing real estate. He planned and developed many local residential communities including Foxtail, Skyview Acres, Stoneybrook Circle, Creekside, Sand Bur, Kirkwood, Townsend Ridge, Bentley Drive, Green Acres, Barnside and soon to be completed Tall Timbers Campground. Delmar developed many other businesses including Husky Housing, Maroon & Gold Apartments, Odds & Ends Market, and several E Z Clean Car Washes.

As a committed Christian and believer in Jesus Christ, he faithfully attended Shiloh Bible Church soon after it was established by his personal friend, Pastor Larry B. Hummel and continued to attend Shiloh for many years faithfully supporting the mission program at Shiloh Bible Church. In 1971 Delmar was actively involved in the Susquehanna Valley Bill Glass Crusade for Christ.

He enjoyed family, traveling, hunting, trout fishing, farming, and organic gardening. Delmar had great vision for his real estate projects. He could look at raw land and envision the end development.

Delmar's humor and quick wit was enjoyed by all who knew him. He loved to tell a story and make people laugh. His positive attitude and joy of life made him many, many friends.
