Delmar B. Chaffee, age 84, of 12 Worman Street, Bloomsburg died Friday, May 7, at his home. He had been in ill health for several years. Delmar was born Friday, August 14, 1925 in LeRaysville, PA a son of the late Louis and Clara Carr Chaffee. He graduated from the Orwell High School of Rome, PA in 1941. Following graduation he served with the US Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II. As a carpenter, he was employed by Dugan/Markon Inc. of Allentown. He retired in 1987. Delmar was a member of Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post #273 and Ft. McClure Post #804 VFW. Survivors include his companion of 27 years, Mary Anna (Edgar) Williams; four sons: Dennis Chaffee and wife, Christine, of Rome, PA; Barry Chaffee and wife, Carol, of Rome, PA, Alan Chaffee and wife, Janet, of Nantucket Island, MA and Thomas Chaffee of Wellsboro; a step-daughter: Stacy Semborski and husband, Joe, of Bloomsburg; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and one sister: Shirley Enck of Oneonta, NY. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 14 at 3:00 p.m. in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy with Rev. Allen F. Acor officiating. A combined VFW and American Legion group will provide military honors. Family will provide flowers; contributions in his memory are requested to Columbia Montour Hospice, 410 Glenn Avenue – Suite 200, Bloomsburg.
