Della Jane (Turner) Fritz, 93, of Fishing Creek Township, passed away on March 27, 2024, at the Emmanuel Hospice Center, Danville, PA, where she had stayed for a few days.
Born November 7, 1930, in Mt. Pleasant Township, she was the daughter of the late Ellis Henry Turner and Ruth Adella (Beagle) Turner. Her husband of almost 71 years, Herbert R. Fritz, passed away in August 2022. Their love affair began when Jane was visiting Zion UCC Church and Herb spotted her beautiful dark hair and fell in love with her that very day. They raised four daughters on their farm in Orangeville where they lived for their entire marriage.
Jane was a 1948 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and attended Ben Franklin Training School, grades 3-6, where she enjoyed being an art student of George Keller. For many years, she was a secretary for Farm Credit Bureau, Danville State Hospital, Bloomsburg Hospital, and Berwick Industries.
A faithful member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, she spent many years singing in the church choir and instilled a love of singing to her daughters. Jane also enjoyed canning and freezing fresh produce and shared that skill with her daughters. She was definitely a driving force in her family.
Jane is survived by her four daughters: Barbara Lynn Fritz, Orangeville; Linda Jane Fritz Romanak and husband, Joseph, Harrisburg; Marla Ann Fritz Harris and husband, Alan, Bloomsburg; and Holly Ruth Fritz Fry, Orangeville. She is also survived by a grandson, Mark Christopher Romanak of Lone Tree, Colorado, and step-grandchildren Linda Harris and Ed Harris, many nieces and nephews and several great and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Elaine Snyder, Shamokin Dam, and Jon Turner and wife, Shirley, Bloomsburg.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Roland Fritz; parents Ellis and Ruth; stepmother Minnie Mae Mellick Turner; sisters Eileen Kitchen Ashenfelder and Helen Shuman; brothers Fred, Merle, and James; nephew Tom Turner and niece Janet Tyree Clark.
Jane's daughters would like to thank Compassus Hospice, especially Nurse Renee, and Emmanuel Hospice Center for taking such good care of their mother.
